Subject: Profile

I ask you to seriously consider rejecting the Profile of Learning and its clone in the so-called "blended" alternative favored by the Senate.

The Profile has been a waste of time for the people who wrote it and those who have to follow it. The best approach is to cut the losses and return to the curricula that work.

It has puzzled me that DFLers so consistently support the Profile. Is it to cater to union leadership? I have several family members who are teachers and they say they do not know any classroom teachers who like it. So you are not helping the rank and file by preserving the Profile. I hope it is not just being done to assure contributions from union administrators.

Alternatively, is it being promoted because of the social agenda which it so easily conveys? Again, I hope not. With DFLers so consistently opposing any curricula that convey a conservative agenda (promotion of marriage, etc.), it would be really hypocritical to push a decrepit Trojan Horse through the gate as a devious way of increasing the liberal bias of public education.
