A New Layer

Lord, every time I get to a new layer
You teach me how to die to myself.
I feel the pain and I am so perplexed
But You tell me I don’t need to be consumed
With looking out for my own self.
Because You promised to bless and take care of me
And this simple Truth sets me free!
No more self-pity, bitterness or despair
For You supply all of my needs
And in Your Master Plan
You said that You would work all things together for good
to those who trust in You as Sovereign Lord and King.
Considering all You did for me to pay my penalty through Christ at Calvary
I know that for all eternity
I already have complete victory!
So I trust in Your plan
Even though I do not fully understand.
And I choose to obey what You say revealed in Your Word
Because You gave it in order to protect and guide me
And You help me see the path in front of me and what next steps to take.
So, I place my life into Your loving hands
And know that You carry me along by Your grace
So that I learn to choose each day how to honor You in all I do and say.
And You show me simple, creative ways to love others as You love me.
And also help me know how to tell of Your Great Redemption Story
to restore each soul to fellowship with You.
But even when I stumble or run away and hide
You never give up and You keep pursuing me.
For You said You would complete the work You started in me.
So as You reach me at a new layer I expose to You
I feel the pain of giving to You all my cherished hopes and dreams
to let You mold, shape and chisel
And I increasingly sparkle and shine
Reflecting Who You are
Giving You all the worship You deserve
Because You chose to give me life!
