Poetry: Susan Margaret Anderson

Abba Father

Father, I thank You for Your faithfulness to me.
Recapture my heart
And bring me back to the start
To when I was a small tender child
Trusting in You to lead and protect me.
I knew about my rebellious heart
That I was prone to wander and go astray
But You made a way
Through Your Redemptive Plan
in the death and raising of Your Son
And from that point on, I was adopted by You!
You are now inviting me
To sit upon Your broad, strong shoulders
As You hold me secure and run across the great expanse
While I joyfully hold a bright rainbow kite!
For my life is a great adventure
And with You, I will always be alright!
And even when I fall and hit the ground
You are there to comfort me and bandage up my wounds.
If I ever run away or disobey
You will chase after me and rescue me
And teach me what I need to learn
And then You will help me see that I can trust in what You say
And that You always know what’s best.
For You promised to take me to where I need to be
And all I do will be blessed by You
Including the messes I make.
For I hand over to You all that I have and all that I am
And You will work it all for good
For I fit into Your perfect plan
Even though I do not fully understand
And I know that You will never leave me all alone.
