A Prayer for My Friend
The door closed
How can I get through to my friend?
Lord, I need a miracle!
Shine through the windows
Your Light of mercy
Draw her to You, beckon to her
Showing Your acceptance of her
All You ask is that she gives her hurting heart to You
and let You teach her how to proceed from here
into Your good and perfect Will that You’ve laid out for her
Assure her that in You alone
she has all that she needs
and that she can trust that You will heal her in Your perfect timing
Shine Your Light through her windows
so she can see the dusty corners where lies are lurking
I pray that she will open the door to let You in
so she can hear You speak Your Words of hope and truth and life
I’ve been knocking on the windows
and now I’ve frightened her
I see she’s shut the curtains
O Lord, break through to her!
In spite of jarring her with such intensity
It is You she needs to hear
and You alone can reach right in
to heal her in her deepest parts
