Aboard the Ship of Jesus Christ

Every day I find that I must pray
and meditate upon God's Word
For often I am tempted to jump overboard
in pursuit of the illusory island of paradise
And I forget that God is the One Who navigates
to lead me into His perfect will
And then as I try to swim I am tossed about by waves of confusion and fear
and soon I am feeling myself being pulled under
But finally I hear my Savior call to me
to grab ahold of His promises
And He pulls me back aboard
and wraps me safely in His arms
drying me off and lovingly chiding me
for relying on my own understanding
For He is the One Who is taking me
to where He wants me to be for His glory
And then He instructs me to take off my old, self-glorifying clothes
and shows me what to put on instead
that reflects His true, humble, holy nature
And as I study His face, I cry because I forgot how much I love Him
For He first chose to love me and bought me with His precious blood
And I joyfully received His gift of salvation
through repentance and surrender to His Lordship
so that I am no longer a slave to sin and fear
But I am free to love Him with all that I am!
And then a celebration and singing begins aboard His ship with all the saints
For God is safely leading us to the great, grand end in full victory
All for His praise and glory!
