Wafting IRON

The Wafting iron, from which the name of the sport is derived. (as well as the popular expression, "Waft him one, Charlie," is constructed of virgin untempered cast iron and cat gut. It weighs 25 pounds, of which not more than 17 may reside in the handle. The hook is optional and often dangerous.
