From: Ross Olson Sent: Sunday, November 3, 2013 To: Editor Star Tribune (opinion{at}startribune.com) Subject: Broaden the fight Star Tribune opinion on sexual abuse often involves close encounters with the truth. But allegiance to your sacred cows prevents comprehensive treatment of the subject. You rightly decry sexual abuse of children by clergy as well as by Scoutmasters, although you inexplicably call for Boy Scouts of America to accept openly gay leaders. At least in the editorial, “Broaden the fight on sex trafficking” (11/3/3013) you report that sex trafficking includes girls and boys. What you seem unable to comprehend is that that although the majority of sexual abuse of children is of girls by heterosexual men, because gay men are a small minority, it turns out that they are 20 to 40 times more likely to have sex with children than heterosexuals. In fact, in multiple studies, repeated even by gay researchers, 25% of adult gay men admit that they, as adults over 21, have had sex with boys under 16. And if you ask them, they may insist that this is their orientation, or that the boy was gay and was indeed the sexual aggressor. Ross S.
