From: Ross Olson <ross{at}rossolson.org> Sent: Friday, February 28, 2014 10:46 AM To:Smithsonian Institution 'LettersEd{at}si.edu' Subject: Kingdom of the Spirits Carl Hoffman and Grenville Charles, investigating the disappearance of Michael Rockefeller do a couple of things unintentionally and one semi-bravely. They give the lie to the “noble savage” myths portraying a culture that even those who not believe in evil might be inclined to call evil. They also leave open the possibility of the real existence of spirits, but of course would not risk their credentials by including a Christian response. Finally, they, perhaps in a defiant gesture or confirmation of their dismissal of the supernatural, dare to risk the curse by disclosing the information. Ross S.
