Subject: Martin Luther King Jr on skin color
Martin Luther King Jr said, “I have a dream that my four little chi1dren will one day live in a nation where
they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Would he be
pleased with the “Melanin Project” which intends to heighten awareness of skin color among K-2nd
grade students? Critics of the Center of the American Experiment’s paper claim their approach defines
racial equality and any other approach is racist. Either they did not really read the paper or are
deliberately misrepresenting it. And no one is responding to the data on academic decline.
