January 10, 2004 To the editor In his commentary on school vouchers and early childhood education ("Vouchers Won't Save Kids After A Bad Start" January 10) Art Rolnick seems to think that we have to choose one or the other because of limited funds. The last time I saw numbers on the cost of an education in the Minneapolis Public Schools, it greatly exceeded the cost of most private or parochial schools. Maybe vouchers would save enough to pay for early childhood intervention.
