Subject: Homosexual change

A letter writer asks for scientific evidence that homosexual attraction can change. It is available! Dr.
Robert Spitzer (who was instrumental in getting homosexuality removed from the diagnostic manual
of the American Psychiatric Association manual of disorders in 1973) presented a paper in 2001
showing that in some motivated cases change is indeed possible. He was greeted with derision by
those who had previously acclaimed him. And despite many confirming studies and reports, mainly
from faith based organizations, the information continues to be suppressed. Further, those who
participate in such therapy are attacked as unethical. While asking for tolerance, the pro-gay forces
apparently do not allow freedom of choice to those who wish to leave the lifestyle or decrease the
attractions. You can be anything you want, but you cannot be ex-gay!
