Using abstract formulations is a proven way of avoiding unpleasant realities. The pro-abortion lobby has successfully used "choice" in place of "killing." And for the homosexual lobby, "tolerance" taps into America's collective guilt over the race issue. But there is a difference. Powerful scientific evidence indicates that homosexuality is not innate but heavily influenced by environmental factors. The majority of lesbians were sexually abused by men as children . A typical story of a gay male is that he hungered for an affectionate relationship with his father or a father figure. About half report having been sexually abused. Gay males are 10 - 40 times more likely to abuse children than heterosexuals. The data is so convincing that gay advocates justify it as the boy having been "the sexual aggressor." There is violence in the gay community but it is almost all gay on gay because of the psychological effects of impermanent relationships. Why did AIDS show up first in the gay community and why do they still account for the vast majority despite being a tiny minority of the population? Because of extreme promiscuity. Homosexuality is a personal and societal tragedy. We should not hate gays, but affirming the behavior is not loving or useful.
